  1. Things to do in Sheffield this Easter

The Cambridge Street Collective (2.1 miles away) is Europe's largest purpose-built food hall and it’s running a series of easter-themed activities for children. They’re kept happy and entertained, whilst the adults can enjoy all the wonderful food and drink there is on offer! The perfect combination.

Good Friday (3rd April) offers Hop & Dance - an Easter Bunny Kids Mini Disco, and the following day the whole family can get involved with the free Boomchikkaboom family rave.  On Sunday 5th, kids can build their very own cuddly Easter Bunny. On 6th April let the kids free their creative sides with Easter-themed crafts.

But why let the kids have all the creative fun? Be sure to visit the free family art workshops on 8th and 9th April. To end the holidays in style, 12th April features the Mad Hatter & Alice Mini Disco – a proper party, with dancing, games and photos! For more information on how to get involved, go to https://cambridgestreetcollective.com/events

Museums are always a great way to while away a few hours and make sure everyone learns something as well as has a good time! And Sheffield has a few great ones to explore. For those who love to see a police car or a fire engine, how about the National Emergency Services Museum (1.4 miles away)? There’s interactive exhibits galore and you can even climb aboard fire engines and lifeboats.

Or if you have a screen-addict, why not take them to the National Videogame Museum (0.7 miles away). It’s a fun, interactive museum celebrating all things videogames, and it’s ideal for slightly older children.

Sheffield offers lots of green space and parks, which are perfect for egg hunts, picnics or walks in the sunshine.

Graves Park (4 miles away) has the advantage of an animal farm, which offers children (and adults) the chance to see lots of animals up close and personal. Given it’s Springtime, there might be baby animals to see – and perhaps you can even help with feeding!

Millhouses Park (3.6 miles away) is popular with families, with open lawns, playground and river paths to explore.

Or how about Endcliffe Park (2.8 miles away), which every Easter Monday hosts the annual duck race – well worth a watch for the sheer spectacle of 2,500 yellow ducks jostling down the water for first place! There’s a playground and café to keep you entertained too.

And don’t forget the Winter Garden (0.9 miles away) and its outdoor companion the Peace Gardens. It’s the largest urban glasshouse in Europe and is well worth a visit.

Orchard Square (1.9 miles away) is set right in the centre of Sheffield, and in previous years there has been a free Easter trail, which is lots of fun! Children pick up an egg hunt sheet and solve clues around the square to collect a special treat at the end. Orchard Square is an open-air shopping court and leisure destination, home to well-known retail brands and independents alike – so there’ll be plenty of things for all the family to explore, whether you’re after a spot of shopping or looking for someone to dine or stop for a well-earned drink.

The venue will also host its Easter Makers’ Market on Saturday 28th March, which is the perfect opportunity to peruse a wide variety of handmade products, crafts and artisan goods from local independent creatives.

Rain doesn’t need to stop play, even if any April showers come along! If you’re looking for some ideas for indoor activities, you could take a trip to Sheffield’s Ninja Warrior UK (2.9 miles away). It’s lots of fun for children and adults of all ages with its famous climbing and obstacle courses. Bring your trainers and plenty of stamina!

Another great family-friendly activity, sure to appeal to people of all ages, is ice skating at the city’s IceSheffield rink (2.4 miles away). It is one of only two facilities in the UK that has two Olympic sized ice pads. Home to the Sheffield Steelers ice hockey team (who we sponsor!), it’s perfect for beginners and more advanced skaters alike. There’s even Ice Discos so you can really get your groove on!
