Experience the Magic of The Hoppings

One of Newcastle’s most iconic summer traditions is The Hoppings, held on the wide open fields of the Town Moor (1.5mi) from 19–28 June. Known as Europe’s largest travelling funfair, this event brings together a huge mix of thrilling rides, classic fairground attractions and family entertainment.

Entry is free, so you can wander through the colourful lights, soak up the lively atmosphere and simply pay for the rides you choose. It’s a must-see event for families and anyone who loves the buzz of a traditional fair.

Pick Your Own Summer Fruits at Brocksbushes

Just a short drive from Newcastle, Brocksbushes Farm (15mi | 25 min drive) in Corbridge offers a wonderful countryside escape during the warmer months. From mid-June through mid-August, visitors can book a time slot for the popular Pick Your Own fruit experience.

Strawberries are the star of the season, but you may also find other soft fruits depending on the harvest. Families love wandering through the fields, filling baskets with fresh produce and enjoying the relaxed rural setting. You simply pay for what you pick by weight, making it a fun and delicious day out.

Brocksbushes also hosts a Summer Fayre in early–mid July, featuring local makers, food stalls and craft vendors. With free entry and parking, it’s the perfect place to browse handmade goods and sample local treats.
