Water Conservation with Showerkap GreenTech
Sandman Signature London Gatwick Hotel, the first UK hotel to adopt new Showerkap greentech estimated to save hospitality industry billions of litres of water annually.
We’re proud to announce that Sandman Signature London Gatwick Hotel has become the first hotel in the UK to adopt a pioneering water-saving technology that could help the hospitality industry conserve billions of litres of water annually.
“We are delighted to be partnering with such a forward-thinking hotel group, which has sustainability at its core and which is committed to operating in the most environmentally-friendly way. Every day in the UK, we send two billion litres of shower water down the drain, but we can change that using engineering innovation and the power of behavioural science to make taking shorter showers rewarding for guests.”
— Steve Harding, Showerkap Founder and CEO
Our hotel is already recognised as a sustainability leader in Crawley, having been the first in the area to earn the prestigious Green Key certification, an eco-label awarded to tourism facilities that meet rigorous environmental standards. From investing in smart building systems to community-focused initiatives and now cutting-edge water conservation, sustainability is woven into everything we do.
“We are excited to be the first hotel nationally to adopt this new technology, which will benefit our local community, guests, staff and the environment.
This will enable users to monitor and reduce water usage and, at the same time, empower people to make more eco-friendly decisions that will hopefully become part of their daily lives.
We look forward to providing guests with the same high standards, while offering them the chance to be part of a unique initiative, which is kinder to the planet and which we hope the hospitality industry will collectively embrace to bring about significant change.”
— Gints Skieris, General Manager at Sandman Signature London Gatwick Hotel
According to the UN, water scarcity ranks among the top five global risks. Hotels are among the biggest water users in the commercial sector, using as much as 1,500 litres per room per day. Showerkap estimates that a 100-room hotel using this tech could save over 2 million litres of water and 13,500 kg of carbon per year, cutting costs while supporting Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) targets.
At Sandman Signature London Gatwick Hotel, we're committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences that don’t cost the Earth, and this is just the beginning.
